Mark Aron Martirez’s journey defies the traditional narrative of rigorous preparation. His success began with a spur-of-the-moment decision that ultimately led to extraordinary outcomes.
In November 2022, Mark ranked 6th in the Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE)—a remarkable feat. Despite this, he pursued an unexpected path, earning education units and casually deciding to take the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). What started as a whim turned into a triumph when he ranked 8th in the September 2024 LET.
LIFE AS A STUDENT
When asked if he had always excelled academically, Mark Aron shared that he was a consistent honor student throughout his elementary and high school years.

LIFE AS A STUDENT
When asked if he had always excelled academically, Mark Aron shared that he was a consistent honor student throughout his elementary and high school years.
However, his academic journey took a challenging turn during Grade 11 and college. Struggling to maintain focus, he received several low grades (line of 7) in up to as many as six subjects in one term. After graduating college, he chose to enroll at the Dr. Carl Balita Review Center (CBRC) for his preparation for NLE.
LIFE AFTER TOPPING THE NURSING LICENSURE EXAM
After his success in the November 2022 NLE, he worked as an academic lead at CBRC where he met other topnotchers in different programs such as education, criminology, and others. This is where he got the inspiration to try his luck in LET.
PREPARING FOR THE LET
Mark admitted that he began reviewing for the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) in June, just three months before the exam. “I was extremely nervous, especially since I’m a unit earner. But I was confident I chose the right review center, so I knew I wouldn’t fail,” he shared. Although he wasn’t able to attend all the sessions at CBRC, Mark made the most of the center’s comprehensive resources and dedicated himself to studying effectively at home. He also fondly recalled the support and guidance he received from his colleagues, many of whom were LET topnotchers, during his preparation journey.
Balancing humility with ambition, Mark has become a symbol of hope for students who may doubt their potential. His achievements in both nursing and education serve as a reminder that even the most unconventional paths can lead to extraordinary destinations. Today, as an academic lead and a dual topnotcher, Mark continues to inspire others, showing that with the right mindset and support system, greatness is within reach.
