As an accountancy graduate, the most significant setback of Darelle Hannah Marquez, occurred in 2019 when she failed the CPA Board Exam. However, she later realized the truth in the saying, “There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”
She joined an audit firm, but the pandemic brought uncertainty, causing her to lose her motivation to take the CPA exam again. In 2022, she decided to enroll in the Teachers Certification Program (TCP).
Her childhood role-playing as a teacher and her experience tutoring an elementary student during college influenced this decision. Teaching, though challenging, felt profoundly rewarding.
In March 2023, she opted not to take the board exam, acknowledging the need for more dedicated study, especially in her major. However, witnessing a friend’s success in the LET inspired me to enroll at CBRC – Head Branch in Manila, given my work’s hybrid setup.
Despite the sacrifices, Darelle committed to prepare for the examination,balancing full-time work and reviews. Reflecting on those days brings forth strong emotions, but she believes that when you truly desire something, there are no excuses.
She knew that she had to win this time regardless of what she’s going through. She silently prayed for guidance. Despite the difficulty in her major which is Social Studies, she employed the CARL method and relied on divine assistance.
Finally, she not only became one of the 77,777 LET passers but also achieved a 90% rating. This outcome exceeded her expectations, proving that with dedication and divine intervention, she could overcome challenges.
“I am beyond grateful to CBRC, especially to Dr. Carl E. Balita, Ma’am Iah, Sir Janus, Sir Prince and all the faculties and RAs (esp. to Ma’am Gelly), because I did not graduate under BSED course on the first place, and I’m a unit earner and I was like a “tabula rasa” and after almost 5 months of review, I really learned a lot of knowledge and experiences. Thus, I can consider this as an unforgettable and life changing memory.”
