“Suffer now, enjoy later”

“Suffer now, enjoy later”. This is one of my favorite life mantras, which I believe has helped me achieve what I have and where I am right now. And with that, allow me to share with you what I had to go through before becoming a board exam passer and topnotcher.

I’ve been grinding nonstop since I realized I needed to be successful. Throughout high school and college, I always chose to suffer because I believed that one day, I’d be able to enjoy the fruits of my hard work. I’m the type of person who would rather spend the entire day doing something than to do nothing at all. I would always rather go to school than hang out with my friends. I am that someone who will go to any length just to complete my education.

Well, it is true that studying is not for the faint of heart, as it requires a great deal of courage, determination, and patience. Going to school with an empty stomach, empty pockets, sleep deprivation, fatigue and exhaustion is definitely hard, however, this does not deter me, rather, it motivates me to work harder. And with the help of my family, guidance from above, and everyone around me, I was able to graduate in June 2023.

To cut the story short, since I graduated on time, I decided to spend the remaining months preparing for the November 2023 board exam. Of course, this isn’t easy either. During my review period, there were also a lot of challenges and difficulties that I’ve encountered. I experienced attending a review on an empty stomach with only 150 pesos on my pocket, good enough for a simple lunch and roundtrip fare. I had to wake up very early just to make it to the review session on time. I’ve also tried many times to sit alone in a shed at night for an hour, waiting for a motor vehicle to take me home. I experienced spending the entire day racking my brain because I have trouble grasping some of the topics. I’ve been through breakdowns, sleepless nights, overtime, and everything else that a reviewee could possibly go through.

Despite of all the obstacles I’ve faced, I never consider giving up. Perhaps because of the support I’m receiving from those around me. Thanks to my family and relatives for motivating me and reminding me to keep going. I’m grateful to my friends and mentors who continue to believe in my abilities. Thanks to Almighty God for the guidance and mercy. Lastly, thanks to Carl Balita Review Center, where I enrolled, because all the things that I find challenging has become easier. I’ve learned a lot of things I never knew before. I had the courage to face the exam since I knew I was totally prepared thanks to the information I had learned at CBRC. Lastly, it is true that in CBRC, both the dream and the dreamer become one.

Once again, I am Edyssa, an LEA passer and topnotcher who once suffered but is now simply enjoying herself.
