Bridging BARMM: Inform, Involve, Inspire

Dr. Carl E. Balita is truly a man of action. You wouldn’t even measure how transgressive and innovative he is.

This has always been proven on all his initiatives and advocacies he’s implementing in academe, environment, religio-sociological and cultural aspects.

On this day, the exciting and fruitful forum which was started in a small talk was solidified by Dr. Balita together with the Bangsamoro Research and Legal Network Inc.

The forum entitled “Bridging BARMM: Inform, Involve, Inspire” was about the different issues circulating the transition between ARMM and BARMM. It includes its transition, laws, halal industry, economic opportunities and challenges and other relevant topics.

Together with him are other educators and researchers with Dr Nassef Manabilang Adiong- the founder of Co-IRIS (International Relations and Islamic Studies Research Cohort) formed in 2012, PHISO (Philippine International Studies Organization) created in 2015, DSRN (Decolonial Studies Research Network) initiated in 2019, and BRLN (Bangsamoro Research and Legal Network) founded in 2022.

The event was participated by Muslim Students’ Associations around Metro Manila and the Muslim Youth Leaders from the following schools:

  • The University of Manila
  • Philippines women University
  • Adamson University
  • University of Makati
  • University De Manila
  • MSU- Main Campus
  • Philippine Muslim Teachers College
  • Philippine Normal University
  • De LA Salle -Manila
  • University of the Philippines
  • Taguig City University

Dr. Carl E. Balita, himself, has also given some donation that would be used for research and other tangible projects for the BARMM amounting to P100,000.00.

This is believed to be used in the forthcoming research and projects for the Bangsamoro community.

Furthermore, as an educator, he also sponsored a 50% scholarship to those graduating students that are interested to take their review after college.

The forum only lasted for 4 hours but it was succinct and a fruitful one. Not only the topic that speakers from the BRLN team imparted but also to help our Muslim brothers and sisters to their studies.
