Who would have thought that a proud daughter of a farmer and 4P’S beneficiary would have gotten the Top 3 slot and aces 94.00 average score of LET – Marichu Abregana.
She was born into a modest family. Life was an uphill journey for her; her father toiled as a farmer, and his mother stood by him, both working tirelessly under the searing sun or heavy rainfall. Even during their ill days, they persevered in order to give their children the life they wanted.
Her own challenges emerged during her pursuit of education. She walks about 20-30 minutes from her elementary school, sometimes an hour in high school, and she was compelled to cross a river just to reach their school.
Yet, their survival was rooted in their faith as God provided for their needs. In moments of financial uncertainty, she believed that God used the DSWD’s 4P’s program to support them, a blessing they couldn’t help but acknowledge and praise.
The government program 4P’s helps their family ease their financial needs. Especially for their tuition fees and materials needed for their schooling.
But life got even harder when Marichu was about to enter college at Cebu Technological University – Argao Campus. While tuition was covered, she needed funds for boarding due to the distance from home and for daily sustenance.
Gratefully, her parents and working brother selflessly provided, but their support prompted her to take responsibility for her journey, especially towards the Licensure Examination for Teachers.
Prior to graduation, she meticulously planned her path: find a job, enroll in a review center, and then undertake the examination.
However, financial constraints intervened, forcing her to save diligently. She believed that through trials, she learned patience, perseverance, and resilience.
During a scholarship examination offered by the Dr. Carl E. Balita Review Center in their university, she aimed to secure a spot, only to miss the top 10, the scholarship recipients.
Accepting the outcome, she reverted to her plan until fate stepped in. The Dean of her university called her for an announcement—an invitation to join CBRC Alpha. Despite initial hesitation, she seized the opportunity. This unexpected turn aligned everything.
The path was riddled with hurdles, but God remained her guiding light. Now, uncertainties no longer daunted her; she trusted God’s ongoing preparation, believing that His instruments would shape her future.
Marichu expressed gratitude to God and those instrumental in his success—her family, DSWD, Canbantug Elementary School, Calagasan National High School, Cebu Technological University Argao Campus, and CBRC.
She thanked CBRC for reminding him to aim high, to aspire like an eagle reaching for the moon, acknowledging that even in failure, he could still shine among the stars.
Their teachings not only equipped her for the licensure exam but also for becoming a better teacher and person.
To CBRC, she extended a heartfelt appreciation for bridging dreams with dreamers. With profound thanks, she wished everyone safety and God’s blessings.
