Dr. Josephine M. Calamlam, known affectionately as Teacher Jojie to her students, has been a dedicated educator for the past 38 years. Her educational journey is adorned with numerous accomplishments and scholarships that reflect her commitment to excellence in teaching and continuous professional development.
With an unwavering passion for education, Dr. Josephine Calamlam earned a Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris in Malaysia. This remarkable achievement was attained through a scholarship grant, demonstrating her academic prowess and dedication to advancing her expertise in the field.
Adding to her academic achievements, she also holds a Master of Education in Elementary Education from the Philippine Normal University. This degree was made possible through a Faculty Development Scholarship grant, further emphasizing her pursuit of excellence in teaching and educational leadership.
During her earlier years of study, Dr. Josephine completed a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Secondary Education, with a major in English, at PNU, where she was granted a scholarship for her outstanding academic performance.
Over the course of her illustrious career, Dr. Josephine M. Calamlam has taught students across all levels, ranging from early childhood education to post-graduate studies. Her dedication to the teaching profession has extended to various roles within PNU, where she has served in different capacities.
Her exceptional contributions to the field of education have earned her numerous accolades and recognition. Notably, she was honored as a Metrobank Outstanding Teacher Awardee in 1999, celebrating her exemplary teaching practices and dedication to her students’ growth and development.
Beyond the Philippines, Dr. Josephine’s commitment to enhancing her skills and knowledge in curriculum leadership led her to complete the Curriculum Leadership in the Advancement of Dynamic Education (CLADE) Program at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. Additionally, she received the prestigious Thomasite Centennial Award from the United States of America, recognizing her significant contributions to education.
Her dedication to continuous learning has also led her to undertake a Specialist Course in English Language Teaching at the Regional English Language Center in Singapore through a scholarship grant.
In the realm of research and advocacy, Dr. Josephine’s engagements revolve around Mentoring Pre-Service Teachers, Reflective Practice, and Learning-to-Teach in Adverse Environments. Her commitment to improving teacher education and pedagogy exemplifies her deep passion for empowering educators.
Since its inception in the early 20’s, Dr. Josephine M. Calamlam has been an integral part of Carl Balita Review Center, contributing her expertise and experience to the development of aspiring teachers.
Beyond her professional achievements, Teacher Jojie maintains a balanced and fulfilling life. She is a loving wife to Engr. Joselito Calamlam, a devoted mother to four responsible men, and a joyful grandmother to an awe-inspired young boy.
